How to Measure:
Measure over undergarments, keeping the tape snug, but not tight, against the body. If at all possible, have measurements taken by your local seamstress.
Bust: This is taken all the way around the fullest part of the chest.
Waist: This is taken all the way around the natural waistline.
NOTE: We recommend adding at least 1" to the Bust and Waist measurements, to allow for wearing comfort. The dress will still fit well, while allowing "breathing room".
Shoulder to Floor: This is taken from the shoulder should be taken from the small hollow in the shoulder, (where a bra strap or bathing suit strap would naturally rest), down the back to where you would like the hem to rest.
Measure wearing the shoes [or shoes with equivalent heel height] that will be worn with the Dress. You may want to consider choosing a slightly longer length than is actually needed, and having the young lady wear a higher heel - this will allow the dress to be worn for a longer period of time, even as she grows.
Our Girls Gown and Dresses have 2-3" total seam allowance "built-in" at the Waist and Bust, so they can be "let out" if needed. Generally, if between sizes, order the larger size - as it is always much easier to take seams in, than to let them out.
