Measure over undergarments, keeping the tape snug, but not tight, against the body. If you plan to wear shapewear, be sure to measure over the shapewear. Bust:     All the way around the fullest part of the bust, wearing a good bra.    *This is NOT your bra size Waist:  All the way around smallest part/natural curve of waist Hip:      Placing your heels together, all the way around the widest part of your rear, including the widest part of the thigh. Selecting Size: Formalwear runs smaller than everyday clothing sizes, so please do not be suprised if you find that you wear a larger size in formal gowns than the size you normally wear, in everyday clothing. Check your actual body measurements against the size chart, to be sure. If between sizes, choose the larger size [Example: If your bust measurement is a Size 10, your Waist measurement is a Size 14, and your Hip measurement is a Size 10 - you would need to order the Size 14, and have the Bust and the Hip areas of the dress altered in by your local seamstress.] Dresses can always be taken in/made smaller, but you cannot make them larger. Just an inch or two larger in the waist or hips than you are happy with? Consider some shapewear like SPANX, the comfortable, modern "Figure Fixer"! Minor alterations are to be expected, as the fit will be slightly different from everyday clothing. Floor length gowns are between 59-60" long - which typically accomodates ladies up to 5' 8" tall with 3" heels, or 5' 11" tall wearing flats.
